Junior Kaitlyn Hartnagel on Meme Day.

February 8th marks the double down day of spirit! Due to a snow day, the Thursday before Courtwarming has been designated as Denim and Meme day. Kids around the school have geared up for Spirit Week, in the hopes of having the best outfit. Some students went with casual jeans and a t-shirt, while others went all out with jeans, a jean jacket, and shades to perfect the whole cool 80s vibe. Jean jackets seem to be popular around the school as current fashion trends are making a throwback to the 80s and 90s aesthetic. A few students even have patches on the back of their jean jackets, to add a little flair. Meme day has also been a success as kids around the halls stop to take selfies with their favorite meme outfits. Memes, as defined by Urban Dictionary, are an image, “video, or set of text that becomes popular and spreads rapidly via the internet.” They have become very popular in recent years and are often referenced among teens. Notable meme outfits in honor of Meme day include the Dark Side Kermit, the “This is Fine” dog on fire, and the Del Taco’s FR E SH A VOCA DO vine reference. Some outfits were easier than others. The Dark Side Kermit required only a black cape with hood, while the “This is Fine” meme required some extra handy work. All in all, the Denim and Meme day was a success!
