Shooting at Local McDonald’s puts Hickman on Lockdown

On Thursday, September 28th at around 4:30 PM, a shooting occurred at the McDonalds on 205 E. Business Loop 70, and Hickman was put on lockdown.  A Hickman student was present at the scene, and saw the incident first hand.

“I was sitting with some of my friends eating dinner when suddenly I heard a noise that sounded like someone hitting the window,” an anonymous source said. “When I looked up, I saw a gun in someone’s hand. I couldn’t see their face, but I dropped to the ground and hid underneath the table until the police came.”

Police have confirmed that one person has been shot, but they are still looking for a possible victim.

“It was very scary at first,” they said. “I thought it was a robbery. I stayed under the table until the police came which was around five minutes after the first shot.”

Witnesses provided a description of the shooter to Columbia Police Department, leading to one juvenile being taken into custody.

Police recovered a stolen gun in the area, yet they have not said if it was the gun used in the incident yet.
