Ben Drury

Ben Drury, Editor-in-Chief

Junior Ben Drury is returning to journalism for his third year, only now, with a different title–Editor-In-Chief. With big sports broadcasting ambitions, Ben is eager to grow his experience in leadership and involvement in newspaper.

While journalism hasn’t always been Ben’s lifelong passion, he has always been exposed to it, explaining why he is now so attracted to it.

“Both of my parents have always been pretty heavy readers of journalism, watchers of journalism, so whenever you grow up in an environment like that, you see it all the time, it’s really kind of interesting,” Ben said.

He goes on to explore all the different possibilities and opportunities that journalism holds, not just for himself, but for anyone.

“I think [journalism is] for anyone, if they’re just in general good at writing, good at talking, good at photography or anything like that, I would definitely say pursue journalism in some aspect… It’s a boiling pot. You can do literally whatever you want to do, and I think that’s really great,” Ben continued. “It can be an opportunity to find yourself, find your own voice and find that confidence in yourself to go and share that aspect of yourself with the world,” Ben said.

Writing isn’t the only aspect of journalism that Ben is involved in, with him taking the leadership position of Editor-In-Chief just this year.

“There have been a lot of changes that I’ve wanted to make, or just… stuff that from past years, and stuff like that. And it’s nice to be able to try and make those changes [to] make the newspaper better,” Ben said.
