Since Columbia’s incorporation in 1826, there have been many parks and conservation areas created over the years. Columbia is also recognized as a Tree City by the Arbor Foundation. The Tree City USA program is “an annual national recognition program designed to raise awareness of the value of community trees, set foundational standards for communities of all sizes, and celebrate community improvement”
Learning about the nature that you see every day in Columbia is a great way to get connected with your community. The conservation efforts made by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department have made Columbia abundant with places that you can go when you want to take a hike or just see some greenery. We hope that these photos inspire you to help out with Columbia’s conservation efforts, or even just take a hike on one of Columbia’s numerous trails.
